Maszlee hopes political dialogue will nuture more mature political culture

Dr Maszlee Malik, hopes the political dialogue session he participated in today will serve as a catalyst for fostering a more mature political culture in the country.

JOHOR BAHRU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Puteri Wangsa state seat, Dr Maszlee Malik, hopes the political dialogue session he participated in today will serve as a catalyst for fostering a more mature political culture in the country.

Maszlee said he was pleased with the programme, describing it as an effective platform to educate voters on making informed decisions based on merit rather than emotion.

“We want to cultivate a culture of dialogue and political debate to help mature the electorate and encourage voters to make their choices based on arguments, facts and evidence, instead of mere sentiment and emotion,” he told reporters after the Johor State Election Dialogue here today.

Also present was Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Commenting on the remaining three days of the election campaign, the former education minister said the PH campaign machinery is now focused on increasing voter turnout, including encouraging out-of-town voters to return to their respective constituencies to cast their ballots.

He said a high voter turnout is essential to ensure the government formed receives a strong and legitimate mandate from the people.

“The higher the turnout, the better, as it reflects the people’s true mandate and will,” he said.

The dialogue was jointly organised by RTM, Astro AWANI and Sinar Harian at the Permata Sari Auditorium, Johor State Broadcasting Department.

Early voting for the Johor state election was held today, while polling day is on July 11.
