RM1.5 million boost for rural development in Sungai Rambai

KKDW allocates RM1.5 million for community programmes and padi-based agro-tourism development in the Sungai Rambai constituency.

JASIN: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development has allocated RM1.5 million for community programmes and rural development initiatives in the Sungai Rambai state constituency.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pic) said the funding supports programmes like the three-day Mini Karnival Usahawan Desa @ Festival D’Bendang Melaka 2025.

The carnival concluded today at Kem Benteng Negara.

“The state government greatly appreciates the close cooperation with KKDW in strengthening the rural ecosystem through economic development, skills enhancement and active community involvement,” he said.

Ab Rauf said this integrated approach is a benchmark for rural community transformation.

His speech was read by State Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening sustainable and competitive rural development.

He highlighted the potential for padi-based agro-tourism in Sungai Rambai.

“Sungai Rambai is indeed blessed with a beautiful landscape and rich agricultural produce, particularly padi-based products, which form the identity of this area,” he said.

He added the carnival serves as a platform to promote local products to visitors.

More than 100 local entrepreneurs and traders participated in the three-day event.

The carnival also featured 42 folk games to revive nostalgia and connect generations. – Bernama
