A new RM10 million sports complex in Bandar Puteri Jaya aims to provide holistic facilities for youth and athlete development in Sungai Petani.
SUNGAI PETANI: A new RM10 million sports complex will be built in Bandar Puteri Jaya to provide systematic facilities for youth.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (pic) said the project is in its early stages and will commence soon.
He stated the complex is a key initiative since becoming the Sungai Petani MP, with the site identified near the Kuala Muda District Information Office.
“An initial allocation of RM10 million has been approved, but if there are any changes in terms of planning or implementation, further announcements will be made,” he said.
He added that a well-equipped complex would better facilitate efforts to groom new athletes.
The procurement process is ongoing and will be monitored with the Public Works Department and other parties.
Dr Mohammed Taufiq stressed he will continue prioritising his parliamentary constituency alongside his federal ministerial duties.
“I will try to make time to be with the people in Sungai Petani, and I am usually here on weekends unless there are official ministry matters in Putrajaya,” he said.
The ministry will focus on youth development and empowering sports as a unifying national platform.
