Search continues for boy swept away in Kajang drain incident

SAR operation continues for 14-year-old boy who fell into a drain in Taman Prima Saujana, after his younger brother was found deceased yesterday.

KAJANG: The search and rescue operation for a teenage boy, feared drowned after being swept into a drain, continued this morning.

The 14-year-old fell into the waterway yesterday while trying to retrieve a ball in Taman Prima Saujana.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the operation resumed at 8 am.

The search area has now extended into Sungai Langat.

A survey at the location found the SAR team, comprising fire department and Civil Defence Force personnel, actively searching.

The incident involved two brothers, aged 12 and 14, who both fell into the drain.

The younger boy was found in Sungai Merbau in Kampung Sungai Kantan at 7.47 pm yesterday.

He was located approximately two kilometres from the initial incident site.

He was pronounced dead at Kajang Hospital. – Bernama
