Seven districts in Kelantan are at risk of flooding from December 14 to 17 due to heavy rain, warns the National Flood Forecasting Centre.
KOTA BHARU: The Department of Irrigation and Drainage has forecast potential flooding in seven Kelantan districts from December 14 to 17.
The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre issued the alert following a continuous heavy rain advisory from the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The districts at risk are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kota Bharu, Bachok, and Pasir Puteh.
“For Pasir Mas, Tumpat, and Tanah Merah, flooding could occur in the Kelantan and Golok River basins,” PRABN said in a statement.
It added that Machang and Kota Bharu are at risk due to the Kelantan River basin.
Pasir Puteh is vulnerable in the Semerak River basin, while Bachok is at risk in the Semerak, Kemasin, and Gali River basins.
JPS will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates, as flooding timing may vary.
All disaster management agencies and residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay alert and follow official instructions.
