Vetri MADANI programme boosts Indian community career training

Human Resources Ministry expands Vetri MADANI with increased funding for Indian community skills training, focusing on B40 and high-demand sectors.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Ministry has announced an expanded Vetri MADANI programme with increased funding to create more career opportunities for the Indian community.

Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said this year’s initiative will be implemented jointly with Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad and the Human Resource Development Corporation.

“The new allocation is still under discussion, but currently, the funding under TalentCorp and the ministry for implementing the Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative 2.0 stands at RM4 million,” Ramanan stated.

He assured that the funding would be doubled, though the final amount would be studied according to precise needs.

Registration will open to gauge public response before the final allocation is announced, allowing for more skills training aligned with industry demands.

The minister highlighted the success of the MISi 2.0 programme, where 300 out of 400 participants secured employment.

Salaries for these graduates range from RM3,000 to RM7,500 per month depending on their field.

“I hope Vetri MADANI can help graduates obtain higher salary offers, especially in engineering and artificial intelligence sectors,” he added.

On a separate issue, Ramanan advised the public not to exaggerate matters concerning the construction of places of worship.

“Our country has laws and regulations. If we all follow the rules, no problems will arise,” he said.

He noted the government allocated RM20 million to over 1,000 temples through the Dharma MADANI programme last year.

A further RM3.5 million was allocated to other houses of worship via the Prime Minister’s special allocation.
