A weak 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck Bukit Kepong, Pagoh with no tsunami threat or damage reported, as authorities advise calm
JOHOR BAHRU: A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was detected in Bukit Kepong, Pagoh.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremor occurred at 8.55 am and was centred at coordinates 2.4 degrees North and 102 degrees East.
The quake’s epicentre was located 16 kilometres southwest of Pagoh at a depth of 10 kilometres.
MetMalaysia confirmed the event poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the situation is under control with no reports of casualties or property damage.
He added that the state government is closely monitoring the situation with relevant agencies.
He advised the public to remain calm and stay away from unstable structures.
The public is also urged to follow instructions from the authorities.
