Youth and Sports Ministry waives registration fees for youth organisations

KBS waives fees for youth organisation registration and constitution amendments from 2025-2027 to encourage participation and compliance with new age limits

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Youth and Sports will eliminate registration fees for new youth organisations and constitution amendments from January 1, 2025 until December 31, 2027.

This initiative aims to improve compliance and encourage greater youth participation in registered organisations following amendments to the Youth Organisations and Youth Development Act 2007.

The amended legislation requires all organisations under the Registrar of Youth Organisations to comply with the new youth age limit of under 30 years effective January 1, 2026.

“To date, a total of 979 youth organisations have amended their constitutions,” KBS said in a statement.

ROY data shows 53,307 youth leaders and 546,651 members aged under 30 are now active in organisations, demonstrating young people’s readiness for leadership roles.

KBS organised the national-level Youth Organisation Engagement Session 2025 to strengthen understanding among youth organisations ahead of Act 668 implementation.

The event culminated 14 engagement series nationwide, serving as a platform for constructive dialogue and detailed legal explanations.

“A total of 600 leaders and members of youth organisations participated in the engagement sessions,” the ministry added.

KBS emphasised that setting the youth leadership age limit to under 30 represents a significant generational shift.

This change creates wider opportunities for young leaders to guide organisations and play stronger roles in the national leadership ecosystem.

Beyond regulatory measures, KBS continues strengthening support through various grant and assistance schemes.

These include the Sports Matching Grant, Community Sports Fund, Youth and Young Friends Development Fund, and International Youth Fund.

“These funding initiatives aim to enhance the delivery of joint programmes that serve as mechanisms for social empowerment,” the ministry stated.

The programmes particularly address issues such as drug abuse, bullying and crime among youth. – Bernama
