PETRA will review objections from residents on the TNB Kuala Muda Solar Project, ensuring safety and environmental concerns are addressed.
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) will review objections raised by a group of residents regarding the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Kuala Muda Solar Project in Kuala Muda, Kedah.
In a statement today, PETRA said its deputy secretary-general (Energy) Mareena Mahpudz had received a memorandum of objection as part of the process of further examining the issues raised.
PETRA will also coordinate the deployment of technical representatives together with the Energy Commission (ST) to the site to obtain a clearer picture of the actual condition and assess the concerns highlighted by residents.
“PETRA respects the community’s rights to express their views and concerns in an orderly manner and in accordance with the law. At the same time, any objections must be examined in a factual and comprehensive manner, guided by the applicable regulatory framework,” it said.
As such, PETRA will review the basis of the objections raised, including matters related to safety, the environment, impact on the local community, and compliance with project approval conditions.
In line with the government’s commitment under the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, PETRA remains committed to ensuring that the national energy transition agenda is implemented in a sustainable, transparent and responsible manner.
“This includes balancing the needs of development, environmental preservation and interests of the local community,” it added.
