PKR vows full cooperation with authorities over allegations an MP sought RM10 million, stressing no protection for misconduct and awaiting formal complaints.
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has pledged full cooperation with authorities investigating allegations of misconduct involving one of its Members of Parliament and a RM10 million transaction.
Party information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the leadership is aware of media reports on the allegations and leaves the matter to the authorities.
“We have nothing to hide, and the party will cooperate with the enforcement authorities,” he told reporters after a Police Day event.
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, reiterated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s stance that the government will not shield anyone involved in misconduct.
He said this principle applies universally, including to party members or government bloc MPs.
Regarding party action, Fahmi stated any investigation must begin with the complainant lodging an official report with bodies like the police or MACC.
“It’s up to the complainant to make a police report or to any other enforcement bodies,” he explained.
Media reports yesterday quoted businessman Victor Chin Boon Long alleging a PKR MP asked him for RM10 million in cash to resolve “corporate mafia” issues.
Police confirmed raiding several premises linked to the corporate figure in Kemensah and Sunga Long, Kajang, on March 16.
The individual and his wife were not present during the raids.
