Police receive 59 reports against former Damansara MP Tony Pua over a Facebook post allegedly touching on sensitive issues involving the Constitutional Monarchy and Rukun Negara.
SHAH ALAM: Police have received 59 reports nationwide against former Damansara MP Tony Pua following a post on his Facebook account that allegedly touched on sensitive issues involving the Constitutional Monarchy and Rukun Negara.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the case will be investigated and that Pua will be called to give his statement soon.
“As of this morning, I have been briefed that 59 police reports have been lodged nationwide, and the investigation is being conducted by the Selangor Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” he told reporters at a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters Senior Officers’ Mess today.
Yesterday, police opened an investigation paper against Pua following a Facebook post that allegedly touched on sensitive issues related to the Constitutional Monarchy and Rukun Negara.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the investigation was being conducted under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for statements conducive to public mischief and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The DAP Disciplinary Committee chairman reportedly issued a statement saying that Malaysia practices a Constitutional Monarchy system in which the King’s power is generally limited to certain areas.
The statement is believed to have been made following the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s, decree advising Seri Kembangan state assemblyman Wong Siew Ki and former Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu to visit Dataran Selangor once a week to understand and appreciate the true meaning of the Rukun Negara.
