Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob says state and parliamentary reps must work together to address infrastructure and housing in Lamag.
KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Lamag state by-election, Mohd Ismail Ayob, said close cooperation between state and parliamentary elected representatives is vital to resolving basic infrastructure issues.
He said such cooperation would facilitate the channelling of allocations and ensure continuous development for the area.
Mohd Ismail called on voters to support government party candidates in the Lamag and Kinabatangan by-elections to ease project implementation.
“The solution is to elect government party candidates so that the people’s voices can be effectively brought to the State Assembly and Parliament, including addressing housing issues that require the attention of the Member of Parliament,” he said during a community programme in Kampung Sungai Lokan.
He urged voters to support the BN candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat, Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar.
Mohd Ismail also assured that efforts to provide a clean water supply to villagers relying on rainwater would be realised within five years.
Meanwhile, Telupid assemblyman Datuk Jonnybone J. Kurum said voters would incur a significant loss if they elected an opposition representative.
He urged voters to give their mandate to the BN candidate to ensure development continuity.
The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is a three-cornered contest involving Mohd Kurniawan Naim, Warisan candidate Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman and independent Goldam Hamid.
The Lamag state by-election will be a straight fight between Mohd Ismail and Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
Both by-elections were called following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5 last year.
The Election Commission has set tomorrow for early voting, with polling day this Saturday.
