Bung Moktar, 66, was also the father of the winning candidate, Mohd Kurniawan Naim.
In the 15th General Election, Bung Moktar defended the seat with a majority of 4,330 votes, defeating Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
Eddy Syaizul Rizam said 369 ballot papers were rejected in the by-election.
He recorded his appreciation to all parties involved and said the democratic process proceeded smoothly without any disruption.
Earlier, Mohd Kurniawan Naim, wearing a black T-shirt, arrived at the hall at 9.05 pm accompanied by BN Deputy Chairman Datuk Jafry Ariffin. – Bernama
