GPS to hold inaugural general assembly on April 19

Gabungan Parti Sarawak will hold its first-ever general assembly on April 19, focusing on the state’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 roadmap.

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will convene its first general assembly since its establishment in 2019 on April 19.

GPS secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said representatives from all four component parties will be invited to attend.

The component parties are Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

A main organising committee will be formed and led by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Nanta said Uggah is expected to convene meetings soon to establish committees for the convention.

He spoke at a press conference after the GPS Supreme Leadership Council meeting chaired by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The general assembly is expected to centre on achieving the Post-COVID Sarawak Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

“This theme was highlighted by the Premier,” Nanta said.

Further details on the programme and timeline will be announced later by the GPS top leadership.

When asked if the convention was preparation for a state election, Nanta said GPS is always prepared.

He stressed the assembly marks a historic milestone for the coalition.

“This will be the first since GPS was established in 2019,” he said.
