GRS candidate pledges more jobs for Lahad Datu if elected

GRS candidate Mizma Appehdullah vows to create more employment in Silam and Lahad Datu, aligning with Sabah Maju Jaya policy to retain youth.

LAHAD DATU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Silam state constituency, Datuk Mizma Appehdullah, intends to create more employment opportunities in Silam and Lahad Datu if given the mandate in the 17th Sabah State Election.

She said that was part of the GRS manifesto, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) policy to ensure youths are not left behind in the state’s development.

She added that through the SMJ policy introduced by the state government, more foreign investors will open factories and offer more jobs to young Sabahans, including in Lahad Datu.

“We don’t want our youngsters to migrate from Sabah because there are no offers (of jobs) for them,” she told reporters after a programme with youth and e-hailing drivers in Bandar Lahad Datu here today.

Mizma added that it was time to have elected representatives who are serious about boosting the tourism industry in the area so that it can provide economic spillover benefits to residents in the surrounding areas.

On efforts to empower youths, Mizma said she always held programmes with the group to hear their problems and help to resolve them.

She said that such an approach could help prevent youths from getting involved in unhealthy activities.

Polling has been scheduled for Nov 29, with early voting on Nov 25.
