GRS mobilises machinery in Sukau to back BN in Kinabatangan by-election

GRS Sukau division mobilises its election machinery to support BN’s candidate in the final phase of the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election.

KINABATANGAN: Campaigning for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election has entered its final phase.

Barisan Nasional is intensifying its efforts to defend the seat with full support from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

GRS Sukau division chief Datuk Juhari Janan said its machinery was mobilised nine days ago in line with orders from GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said the Sukau, Lamag and Kuamut divisions were instructed to assist and ensure victory for the BN candidate.

“Cooperation between GRS and BN in this by-election is based on the spirit of commitment to return the support given by BN to GRS during the formation of the Sabah state government,” he said.

GRS efforts include face-to-face campaigning and political talks involving supporters in Kinabatangan and the Lamag state constituency.

Juhari said the Sukau division has 7,400 members with 6,200 eligible voters already in its records.

He stressed that GRS is not taking Parti Warisan’s experienced and influential candidate lightly.

He added that cooperation between GRS and BN should be strengthened as campaigning draws to a close.

Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar of BN will take on Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman of Warisan and independent Goldam Hamid for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat.

Mohd Ismail Ayob of BN will face Mazliwati Abdul Malek of Warisan for the Lamag state seat.

Polling is on Jan 24 with early voting taking place on Jan 20.
