Hamzah Zainudin has been expelled from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia with immediate effect, following alleged constitutional violations.
PETALING JAYA: The uncertainty over the position of Bersatu Deputy President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was brought to an end on Friday when the party formally expelled him.
A letter that began circulating on social media yesterday afternoon stated that Bersatu’s Disciplinary Board, which convened on Thursday while Hamzah was overseas attending to family matters, had decided to terminate the Larut MP’s membership with immediate effect on Feb 13, 2026.
“Please be informed that this notice takes effect immediately.

However, Datuk Seri may submit an appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days from the date of this notice,” the letter read.
The notice was signed by Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan.
The matter was subsequently confirmed by Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in a brief statement.
“The Supreme Leadership Council has been informed that the Disciplinary Board has decided that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is expelled from the party under Clause 22.5 with effect from Feb 13, 2026, for actions found to be in breach of Clause 9.1.4 of the Bersatu Constitution,” the statement read.
Earlier, Hamzah, who is also the Opposition Leader in Parliament, had been summoned to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Board to assist in investigations into allegations linking him to the commotion at the party’s Annual General Assembly and purported attacks against party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to the notice summoning him, four disciplinary complaints dated Sept 30, 2025 and Feb 5, 2026 had been lodged against him.
He was also alleged to have failed to prevent certain party leaders and members from issuing statements attacking Muhyiddin; to have negotiated with presidents of component parties within Perikatan Nasional (PN) without party mandate, including discussions concerning the PN Executive Council that had been rejected by Bersatu’s Political Bureau and Supreme Leadership Council; and to have tarnished Muhyiddin’s image by claiming he was not invited to a meeting involving presidents of PN component parties on Jan 28.
Hamzah, however, did not attend Thursday’s Disciplinary Board session, citing his absence abroad to assist with his child’s enrolment at an educational institution in Australia.
