Indera Mahkota Bersatu regrets Saifuddin’s dismissal without hearing

Indera Mahkota Bersatu division says Saifuddin Abdullah’s dismissal lacked a fair hearing, calls for a transparent appeal process to uphold party integrity.

KUANTAN: The Indera Mahkota Bersatu Division Committee has expressed regret over the party’s decision to dismiss its Member of Parliament, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

The committee described the dismissal by the Bersatu Disciplinary Board as having been made without a fair hearing.

Division deputy chief Mat Zahid Abu Hassan said the stance was unanimously agreed upon at a divisional committee meeting.

He hopes the Bersatu Appeals Board will give due consideration to Saifuddin’s forthcoming appeal.

Mat Zahid said the process must be carried out fairly, transparently and prudently to safeguard the party’s integrity.

“The committee expresses its solidarity with Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and reaffirms its continued support for his leadership,” he said in a statement.

Last Tuesday, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the party had dismissed Saifuddin effective January 6.

He stated that Saifuddin had violated Clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution, but provided no details on the specific offence.
