Police report a smooth nomination process for the Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections, with traffic diversions causing only minor, controlled congestion.
KINABATANGAN: The nomination process for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections proceeded smoothly without incident.
Kinabatangan police chief Supt Ravi Duraisamy said all parties cooperated fully and adhered to instructions.
He noted that traffic diversions caused some congestion in the morning as the roads are used by the public for deliveries.
“The situation remained under control,” he told reporters after the nominations at Dewan Sri Lamag.
The by-elections were called following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin, on Dec 5 last year.
The Election Commission has set polling day for both by-elections on Jan 24, with early voting on Jan 20.
