PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang confirms his party will take over PN leadership, with a meeting to decide the new chairman scheduled for next week.

MARANG: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has confirmed his party will assume leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The move follows the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as PN chairman, effective yesterday.

“That meeting will involve Bersatu,” he told reporters after a lecture at Masjid Rusila here today.

He added that the decision on whether the resigned chairman attends is up to the individual.

Abdul Hadi stated that PAS has many potential candidates from among religious scholars or technocrats.

He remained tight-lipped on who would be put forward for the position.

When asked about the possibility of him leading PN, the Marang MP cited his poor health. – Bernama
