PH candidate vows to solve water woes in Sabah’s Sulabayan

Pakatan Harapan candidate pledges to address clean water supply and infrastructure issues in Sulabayan, targeting 20,285 voters ahead of state polls

SEMPORNA: Pakatan Harapan candidate Ustaz Mohd Zulfikar Ab Mijan has pledged to prioritise resolving the longstanding clean water supply problems affecting the Sulabayan constituency.

The 44-year-old candidate noted that Sulabayan remains one of Malaysia’s oldest state constituencies yet continues to lag in access to reliable water facilities.

“We also see issues such as narrow, damaged roads,” he told Bernama during a ceramah programme on Pulau Bum-Bum.

Mohd Zulfikar emphasised that addressing these infrastructure challenges requires strong support from the Unity Government.

He expressed confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s commitment to helping the poor, noting that most Sulabayan residents fall into this category.

As president of the Association of Semporna Non-Governmental Organisations, Mohd Zulfikar plans to use NGOs as a platform to engage approximately 5,000 young voters.

He has adopted the #sinarbaru4Sulabayan slogan, combining social media outreach with direct engagements to connect with youth.

The constituency contains approximately 20,285 registered voters ahead of the November 29 polling date.

Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa expressed confidence in Mohd Zulfikar’s ability to improve Sulabayan’s infrastructure development.

He urged voters to allow Pakatan Harapan to deliver progress, particularly for Pulau Bum-Bum’s seven villages.

“This is the best opportunity for the people here to witness the federal government’s commitment to their welfare,” Dr Mujahid stated.

The Semporna Returning Officer confirmed the Sulabayan seat will feature an eight-cornered contest in the upcoming state election. – Bernama
