Prasarana Malaysia recorded over 1.54 million passenger journeys on its rail and bus services on December 31, 2025, a new all-time high.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad recorded over 1.54 million passenger journeys on its rail and bus services on December 31, 2025.
This marks the highest figure in the history of its Rapid KL and Rapid Penang operations.
Prasarana president and group chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said the figure represented a 0.76% increase compared with the same period last year.
“The efficiency of coordination and crowd control management, driven by about 3,000 Rapid KL frontline personnel in the Klang Valley, ensured rail and bus users enjoyed smooth, safe and comfortable journeys throughout the celebrations,” he said.
He added that effective on-ground operational coordination enabled services to operate smoothly despite a surge in passenger numbers at celebration hotspots.
Rail services recorded 1.29 million passengers on the day.
Bus services, including Rapid On-Demand, recorded 251,737 passengers.
The Kelana Jaya Line recorded 321,381 passengers, while the Ampang and Sri Petaling Line had 246,885.
The Kajang Line recorded 396,141 passengers, with the Putrajaya Line at 234,158 and the Monorail at 90,748.
For bus services, Rapid KL carried 183,944 passengers, Rapid Penang had 48,002, and the Sunway Bus Rapid Transit recorded 19,791.
“The success in managing this large-scale operation proves the level of preparedness and professionalism of Rapid KL personnel,” Amir Hamdan said.
He said strategic cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police helped ensure bus services operated on schedule despite severe city centre congestion.
Comprehensive coordination among Prasarana’s Auxiliary Police, event organisers, and mall security teams also played an important role in managing passenger flow and safety.
