Sarawak Premier Abang Johari pays tribute to economist Prof Datuk Dr Madeline Berma, a key member of the Sarawak Economic Action Council, who passed away at 67.
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state has lost one of its finest daughters with the passing of economist and academic Prof Datuk Dr Madeline Berma.
In a statement, the Premier’s Office said Madeline was a member of the Sarawak Economic Action Council (SEAC) and contributed her expertise to ensure a sound economic future for Sarawak.
Abang Johari expressed his deepest condolences to her family on behalf of the council.
The SEAC was formed in 2020 to facilitate Sarawak’s post-COVID-19 economic strategy towards 2030 as outlined in the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).
Madeline passed away at the age of 67 at her residence in Bandar Baru Bangi.
Her body will be brought back to Kampung Siol Kandis in Kuching for funeral arrangements.
