Selangor has no alternative site for pig farm relocation besides Bukit Tagar

Selangor MB says no alternative location identified for pig farm relocation, but state remains open to discussions on the Bukit Tagar plan.

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government has not identified any alternative location to replace Bukit Tagar as the new site for relocating the state’s pig farms.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state remains open to discussions with all parties to ensure a more orderly livestock management system.

“So far, there is no alternative location,” he said after attending an event at Wisma Perbadanan Pertanian Selangor.

He said the state will continue to review other suitable sites if necessary while keeping avenues for discussion open.

Amirudin was commenting on a memorandum of objection submitted by 37 non-governmental organisations at the Selangor State Secretariat building.

He said the state understands community concerns but is focused on closing unregulated farming areas.

The proposed new system adopts a zero-emission concept to minimise odour, noise and environmental disturbance.

“This move is also in line with the decree of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, for the area to be closed to protect the river and the environment,” he added.

The state government decided last Monday to expedite the relocation of farms in Kuala Langat and Sepang to Bukit Tagar by year’s end. – Bernama
