Selangor Raja Muda’s Beijing visit promotes youth resilience and tech ties

Selangor’s Raja Muda visited Beijing to empower youth, foster tech innovation with firms like Alibaba, and encourage brain circulation

SHAH ALAM: The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, concluded a visit to Beijing aimed at youth empowerment and technological collaboration.

Accompanied by his wife and state executive councillor Ng Sze Han, the visit from November 30 to December 3 sought to strengthen bilateral relations.

The delegation focused on deepening youth exchanges and fostering ties in high-tech industries.

In a royal address, Tengku Amir Shah stated that modern education must transcend the simple transfer of knowledge.

He emphasised that education should cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset to turn societal challenges into innovative opportunities.

Speaking to Malaysian students in Beijing, he drew on his military training to inspire resilience.

“Resilience is not about being the strongest but about continuing to move forward, even when each step feels heavier than the previous one,” he said.

He urged the students to return home with confidence and fresh ideas to guide the nation’s future with integrity.

The delegation also toured companies with strategic links to Selangor, including Alibaba Headquarters, Bridge Data Centres, and China Harbour Engineering Company.

Ng Sze Han stated the Selangor government is shifting from preventing brain drain to encouraging brain circulation.

“We see overseas experts and talents as super-connectors,” he said.

“Whether you are in Beijing or Silicon Valley, you are the bridge that connects Selangor to the world.” – Bernama
