MELAKA: A frozen meat outlet in Ayer Keroh was found using the word halal on its signboard without holding a Malaysian Halal Certification.
Melaka KPDN director Dr Mohd Hazimin Jamaludin said a joint operation with the Melaka Islamic Religious Department discovered 28.85 kg of frozen meat worth RM7,802.15 bearing an unauthorised halal logo.
He stated the business owner could not produce a valid halal certificate and the outlet was not registered under the SPHM issued by JAKIM.
The business owner is suspected of violating Order 4(1) of the Trade Descriptions (Definition of Halal) Order 2011 under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011.
He added that the shop was also fined for using an unverified electronic weighing scale under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
Mohd Hazimin warned traders not to use misleading halal logos or displays that could deceive customers.
He said Melaka KPDN officers regularly monitor and run operations to enforce the law and urged consumers to report any misconduct.
The public may contact the Melaka KPDN Office via WhatsApp, the e-aduan portal, call centre, Ez Adu KPDN, or the KPDN Melaka State Enforcement Command Centre for inquiries or complaints. – Bernama
