Iran’s foreign minister outlines Tehran’s peace efforts to end the US-Israeli war in calls with Japanese and Italian counterparts.

TEHRAN: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held separate phone talks on Saturday with his Japanese and Italian counterparts, outlining Tehran’s diplomatic efforts to end the US-Israeli war of aggression and stressing the need for responsible international action, The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

In a call with Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Saturday, Araghchi discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and Iran’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the war and reducing tensions.

He briefed Motegi on the latest developments related to the diplomatic process and ongoing efforts and initiatives to end the imposed war against the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian foreign minister also spoke with Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, with discussions focusing on the latest regional developments, ceasefire efforts, and diplomacy.

The two sides exchanged views on the security, legal and economic consequences of the US-Israeli military aggression.

During the call, Araghchi updated his Italian counterpart on ceasefire-related developments and diplomatic efforts to end the war, emphasising the importance of a responsible role by European countries in this process.

Expressing regret over the non-constructive and irresponsible approach of some European countries in repeating incorrect clichés regarding Iran’s nuclear issue, Araghchi stressed that Iran’s nuclear programme is absolutely peaceful.

He urged those countries to condemn the US-Israeli aggression and hold them accountable for gross violations of international humanitarian law.

The United States and Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and several senior commanders while indirect negotiations were underway between Tehran and Washington regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

They also bombarded a school in Minab, southern Iran, killing 168 people including school children.
