ICE agent kills woman in Minneapolis, sparking protests and political clash

An ICE agent shot a woman dead in Minneapolis, leading to protests and a dispute between local leaders and the Trump administration over the incident.

MINNEAPOLIS: A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a woman on a city street, triggering large protests and a sharp political dispute.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old American Renee Nicole Good.

Video shows a masked ICE agent firing three times into her Honda SUV at close range as she apparently tried to drive away from agents surrounding her car.

The vehicle then crashed into other cars, with Good’s bloodied body seen slumped inside afterward.

The Trump administration quickly claimed Good was attempting to kill the agents and labelled the incident “domestic terrorism.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey rejected that claim, calling it “bullshit” and urging ICE to leave the city.

Thousands of protesters later braved the cold, holding signs that read “ICE out of MPLS.”

Department of Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem said any loss of life was tragic but reiterated the terrorism allegation.

“She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle,” Noem stated.

The DHS said on social media that the officer fired “defensive shots” after the victim tried to run him over.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the federal response “propaganda” and promised a full state investigation.

Witness Brandon Hewitt reported hearing three shots and filming the aftermath.

Another witness described a “grisly scene” and said a doctor was prevented from reaching Good by officers.

The shooting occurred during protests against immigration enforcement operations in south Minneapolis.

The DHS linked the violence to what it called constant demonisation of its officers.

Noem said the involved officer had been rammed and dragged by a protester in June.

The victim’s mother, Donna Ganger, told a local paper her daughter was “probably terrified” and was not challenging ICE.

ICE has been central to President Donald Trump’s intensified deportation drive.

The agency has faced criticism for recruiting thousands of new agents amid concerns over training.

US authorities said up to 2,000 officers were in Minneapolis for immigration sweeps at the time.
