Israeli PM Netanyahu accepts Trump’s invitation to join the ‘Board of Peace’, a group requiring up to $1 billion for a permanent membership spot.
JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted an invitation to join US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace”.
Netanyahu’s office announced the acceptance in a statement on Wednesday.
The board was originally conceived to oversee the rebuilding of post-war Gaza.
A charter seen by AFP does not appear to limit the board’s role solely to the Palestinian territory.
Members are required to pay up to $1 billion for a permanent spot on the board.
The statement described the board as being “composed of leaders of the world”.
