Russian strikes kill two, wound seven in Ukraine’s Kharkiv

Russian drone strikes on Kharkiv kill two and wound seven, hitting a civilian enterprise as attacks on Ukraine’s second city continue.

KHARKIV: Russian drone strikes on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv killed two people and wounded seven more.

Local authorities reported the casualties following the attack on Wednesday.

The strikes targeted the Shevchenkivsky district, according to the region’s governor, Oleg Synegubov.

“A civilian enterprise caught fire as a result of the enemy strike,” he said.

Synegubov added that three women and four men had been hospitalised with injuries.

Kharkiv is Ukraine’s second-largest city and lies close to the Russian border.

It was encircled at the beginning of Russia’s invasion four years ago.

The city has been attacked almost daily since Moscow’s forces were pushed back later in 2022.

The latest violence comes as the United States pushes Kyiv and Moscow to agree to an elusive peace deal.

A third round of three-party talks has reportedly been derailed by the war in the Middle East.
