COSTA BLANCA: Two German men were beaten to death during a violent brawl in southeastern Spain.
The incident occurred on Monday in a rural area near the town of Elche on the Costa Blanca, according to a statement from regional police.
Police confirmed two suspects were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the deaths.
While police declined to confirm the nationalities of the victims or suspects to AFP, the Spanish newspaper El Pais reported both deceased individuals were German.
El Pais also reported the two arrested suspects are Polish nationals, who were detained inside a house.
The newspaper further stated a third person, of unknown nationality, is believed to have been seriously injured in the fight.
Police did not confirm a third casualty, citing the need to respect the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation.
According to El Pais, the confrontation began when the two German victims and the third injured person attempted to evict the Polish suspects from a house they were occupying.
