Verizon apologises for major mobile and internet service disruption affecting millions of US east coast customers, with over 1.5 million problem reports logged
SAN FRANCISCO: A major service disruption at telecom giant Verizon affected mobile customers across the US east coast for much of Wednesday.
The company apologised to customers in a post on its website, stating, “Today, we let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry.”
Verizon added that its teams were working non-stop and would continue through the night to restore service.
The outage began around noon in New York, where Verizon has its headquarters.
Internet service tracker DownDetector indicated it received over 1.5 million reports of problems with Verizon mobile or internet connections.
Reports of service issues continued into the night, according to the tracking site.
Verizon did not disclose the extent of the disruption or its cause.
