IJN offers 15% heart screening discount for media at Hawana 2026

Institut Jantung Negara offers media practitioners a 15% discount on heart screening packages during the Hawana 2026 celebrations to promote cardiovascular health.

BUTTERWORTH: Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) is offering a 15 per cent discount on its Essential Heart Screening Package to media practitioners in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026 celebrations.

The initiative aims to raise health awareness among media personnel, who often work under tight deadlines, to ensure they do not overlook their cardiovascular well-being.

IJN Marketing Department head Farah Delah Suhaimi said the package includes an electrocardiogram (ECG) test, a stress test, and a consultation session with a consultant cardiologist.

“Bookings and payments can be made within the next three months at the HAWANA booth or via the IJN website, while the screening appointment dates are flexible and valid until the end of this year,” she told Bernama here today.

Farah Delah added that IJN has also deployed its mobile unit truck, equipped with four examination beds, to the PICCA Convention Centre @ Arena Butterworth for the event.

She said visitors can undergo an immediate echocardiogram (echo) test on-site if their initial screenings show any concerning indicators.

“At the booth, we provide basic health screenings covering blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and ECG. If readings are unsatisfactory, they will be referred to the mobile clinic truck for further assessment by our specialists, supported by a team of about 30 personnel today,” she said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Media Council committee member Adie Suri Zulkefli, 46, said cost and time constraints are often the main barriers preventing media practitioners from regular health check-ups and welcomed IJN’s initiative.

“With a substantial discount and the flexibility to book early for a later appointment, it provides a strong incentive for media peers to step forward and have their hearts checked before it is too late,” he said.
