NOTTINGHAM Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a contract running until 2027.
The Premier League club confirmed the 54-year-old former Burnley and Everton manager will replace Ange Postecoglou after the Australian’s dismissal on Saturday.
Dyche becomes Forest’s third manager this season following his departure from Everton at the start of this year.
Former Manchester City and Italy manager Roberto Mancini reportedly held discussions with Forest about the vacant position.
Fulham boss Marco Silva was also linked with the role before Forest chose Dyche.
The club described Dyche as a respected and experienced Premier League manager bringing character and tactical acumen.
Dyche’s first match in charge will be Thursday’s Europa League home fixture against Porto.
His opening Premier League game will be Sunday’s away trip to face Bournemouth.
Dyche’s coaching team will include former Forest players Ian Woan and Steve Stone.
Postecoglou was dismissed minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The Australian became the shortest-serving permanent manager in Premier League history.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis fired Postecoglou after he failed to win any of his first eight matches.
Postecoglou had replaced Nuno Espirito Santo who was sacked in September following relationship breakdowns.
Forest currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone with just five points from eight games.
The club invested over 100 million pounds during the transfer window to strengthen their squad. – AFP
