Victor Wembanyama is probable to return from injury for the Spurs’ NBA Cup semi-final against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Las Vegas
SAN ANTONIO SPURS star Victor Wembanyama is expected to return from a 12-game injury absence for the team’s NBA Cup semi-final.
The French phenom is listed as probable for Saturday’s clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Wembanyama has been sidelined with a left calf strain since November 14.
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson confirmed on Wednesday that the 21-year-old had resumed five-on-five practice.
The Spurs advanced to the semi-final by beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the Cup quarter-finals.
San Antonio has posted a 9-3 record during Wembanyama’s absence.
They now face a formidable challenge against the reigning NBA champion Thunder.
Oklahoma City is led by NBA Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Thunder have tied the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors for the best 25-game start to a season at 24-1.
Their only defeat came in Portland on November 5.
Since that loss, the Thunder have won 16 consecutive games. – AFP
