AC Milan’s unbeaten run continues after a dramatic late penalty miss by Genoa’s Nicolae Stanciu, allowing Inter Milan to extend their Serie A lead.
MILAN: AC Milan extended their unbeaten league run to 17 matches after a dramatic 1-1 draw with Genoa at San Siro.
The hosts salvaged a point through Rafael Leao’s powerful header in the second minute of added time.
Genoa had taken a shock lead just before the half-hour mark through Lorenzo Colombo.
Deep into stoppage time, Davide Bartesaghi fouled Mikael Ellertsson to concede a penalty for the visitors.
Nicolae Stanciu had the chance to win the game from the spot but smashed his effort over Mike Maignan’s crossbar.
The result leaves Milan second in Serie A, three points behind local rivals Inter.
Inter had earlier beaten Parma 2-0 to establish their lead at the summit.
Milan’s next league fixture is a trip to struggling Fiorentina this weekend.
In other Serie A action, Cremonese drew 2-2 with Cagliari after surrendering a two-goal lead.
Jamie Vardy scored one and assisted another for Cremonese in the first half.
Cagliari fought back after the break through Michel Adopo and a late Yael Trepy strike.
Promoted Cremonese are now without a win in five matches but sit 13th in the table.
