JAKARTA: Malaysia’s AFC Futsal Asian Cup campaign was dealt a crushing blow with a 7-0 defeat to Afghanistan.
The heavy loss in Group D leaves the national team rooted to the bottom of the standings without a point.
Afghanistan took control early with Seyed Hossein Mousavi opening the scoring in the eighth minute.
Farzad Mahmoodi and Sayed Mojtaba Husseini added two more goals in quick succession to make it 3-0 by the 13th minute.
Mohammad Moradi then netted a fourth goal just before halftime to compound Malaysia’s misery.
Afghanistan continued their dominance after the break, adding three more goals in the second half.
