Slot vows to win back frustrated Liverpool fans’ support

Liverpool boss Arne Slot admits he must have done things wrong as he faces fan frustration and a crucial Champions League decider against Galatasaray.

MANAGER Arne Slot has vowed to win back the support of frustrated Liverpool fans, admitting he “must have done a lot of things wrong”.

Slot faced questions about his Anfield future after his team were booed off following a late draw with Tottenham on Sunday.

“It’s never nice they are frustrated because usually fans are not frustrated after you win,” Slot told reporters.

“People told me when I came here that they will support the manager for such a long time, but if you are supposing something then I must have done a lot of things wrong.”

The Dutch coach led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season after replacing Jurgen Klopp.

His second campaign has been turbulent, with the team criticised for a lack of cutting edge and defensive flaws.

Liverpool sit fifth in the league and must overturn a 1-0 deficit against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“I did something wrong in the season that we won the league and I definitely did maybe make a few decisions that were not perfect in hindsight,” Slot said.

“All the decisions I’ve made, I’ve always made for the same reason, for us trying to win the game.”

Former defender Jamie Carragher recently questioned whether Slot’s players are unified and willing to fight.

“I agree with a lot of things Jamie has said throughout the season. This particular one I disagree with,” Slot responded.

“I see a team that is fighting together. That is my opinion.”

Slot hopes the home support at Anfield will lift the team for the crucial European tie.

“The good thing for us is we have the support of our fans, which will be supportive again tomorrow,” he said.

Despite recent criticism, Slot insisted he has never felt isolated at the club.

“I’ve never felt alone since I’ve been here,” he added.
