Terengganu FC to hold 10-day Bangkok camp with four friendlies against clubs from Vietnam, Hong Kong and Thailand
KUALA NERUS: Terengganu FC (TFC) will hold a 10-day training camp in Bangkok, as part of preparations for the 2026/2027 Malaysia League season.
Head coach Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain said the Turtles will play four pre-season matches against clubs from Vietnam, Hong Kong and Thailand during the camp.
The 48-year-old coach said the friendly matches are crucial for building team chemistry and fine-tuning the squad’s tactical approach ahead of their opening Super League fixture on Aug 22.
“TFC will be based in Bangkok for 10 days starting July 31 for a training camp and pre-season matches before the actual campaign begins on Aug 22.
“Our opening match will be against Hanoi FC (Vietnam) on July 31, followed by Taipo FC (Hong Kong) on Aug 2 and Prime Bangkok FC (Thailand) on Aug 3. Our final pre-season fixture will be against Thai League 1 club PT Prachuap FC on Aug 6. All matches will be played at the Yamaoka Hanasaka Academy,” he told reporters after a training session at the Gong Badak Complex near here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Nafuzi, who is also the former national Under-23 head coach, said the Turtles are still awaiting the arrival of several players to complete the squad for the new season.
He said TFC, who are based at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA), have so far recruited two naturalised players, four imports and three local players in preparation for what is expected to be a more competitive and challenging league campaign this season.
“At the moment, we have a squad of 25 players comprising both existing and new signings. We are still waiting for a few more players to arrive this week to complete the full squad.
“So far, preparations have gone smoothly, and we hope TFC will be able to provide stiff competition to the other teams while improving on last season’s performance,” he said.
