Kelantan’s TRW FC and KRW FC face difficult paths in the Malaysia Cup, drawn against Selangor FC and DPMM FC respectively
KOTA BHARU: Super League team Kelantan The Real Warriors FC (TRW FC) and semi-pro A1 League team Kelantan Red Warrior FC (KRW FC) face tough paths to the quarterfinals of this season’s Malaysia Cup.
KRW FC head coach Irfan Bakti said his team would have a very hard time as they were newcomers and would face Super League team DPMM FC, a team he described as a qualty team, in their first match of the knock-out event.
“We are the underdogs with local players save for one import player against Brunei DPMM FC,” he told Bernama recently, adding that even though their path to the quarterfinals was tough, he would make the most of his experience to help his team progress as far as possible.
“I want players to focus on one match after the other, to take care of morale and display a high level of discipline during the Malaysia Cup, which is the best exposure for my players to face the remaining matches of this season,” he added.
Meanwhile, TRW FC assistant head coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli said his team had been drawn to meet Selangor FC, which represented a major challenge.
“On paper, the advantage clearly is with Selangor FC, which is one of the best Super League teams, filled with quality foreign and local players.
“We played them previously in the Super League and it was a tough match, whether at home or away,” he said, adding that his players are currently focused on player fitness and improving weaknesses, especially in attacking.
