Malaysian shuttler Lee Zii Jia withdraws from 2025 Kumamoto Masters, continuing his absence due to a back injury rehabilitation programme.
PROFESSIONAL men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has withdrawn from the 2025 Kumamoto Masters Japan Badminton Championships.
The Badminton World Federation confirmed his withdrawal alongside other top players from the Super 500 tournament.
Lee’s team has not yet provided the specific reason for his withdrawal from the competition.
Team LZJ previously announced on Instagram that the Paris 2024 bronze medallist needed extended rehabilitation for persistent low back pain.
This medical advice has already caused him to miss the Denmark Open, French Open, and Hylo Open.
Lee last competed at the 2025 China Masters in September where he retired during his opening match.
He was trailing 6-14 in the deciding set against Taiwan’s Lin Chun-Yi when he withdrew from the match.
Lee had won the first set 21-17 before losing the second set narrowly by 21-23.
The Kumamoto Masters Japan is scheduled for November 11-16 at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium.
Other notable withdrawals include Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen and Indonesian players Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. – Bernama
