Selangor Red Giants player Sekys calls M7 World Championship his most painful e-sports experience after third-place finish, citing personal mistakes and immense pressure.
SEPANG: Selangor Red Giants player Muhammad Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman has described the recent Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M7 World Championship as the most painful experience of his international career.
Better known as Sekys, he admitted that several personal mistakes contributed to the squad’s failure to reach the tournament’s grand final.
“For me, this M7 was more painful. In my history of playing professionally at the international level, this is the one that hurts the most because there were many moments that could have been changed, including mistakes on my own part,” he told reporters upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
SRG finished third after a 1-3 defeat to host representatives Alter Ego in the lower bracket final.
That match set a new world record as the most-watched mobile e-sports match of all time, reaching 5.59 million Peak Concurrent Views according to Esports Charts.
Sekys noted that immense pressure made it difficult for the team to control the situation during the crucial match.
“The pressure was indeed very high at that time, and it was quite difficult to control the game. A few minor mistakes and unexpected things happened, and that led to our defeat,” he said.
Commenting on the team’s future, the 20-year-old hopes the SRG legacy will be upheld by the next lineup.
“Whoever is with SRG in the future, I hope this team’s legacy can be continued to ensure Malaysia is always at its best and makes the Malaysian people proud,” he said.
