The Nicol David Organisation (NDO) will expand its Positive Play (+Play) programme to more schools and communities across Malaysia next year with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).
Youth and Sports Minister YB Hannah Yeoh announced the collaboration, highlighting the role of sports in promoting mental health and resilience among students. “Sports teach children how to manage life’s challenges — including failure, discipline, and teamwork,” she said, while encouraging ex-athletes and organisations to help raise the value of sports in society.
Launched in April, the +Play pilot has benefited over 1,000 students and 100 teachers in 33 schools nationwide. Early results showed a 15% increase in confidence, a 9% rise in resilience, and improved happiness levels among participants.
NDO founder Datuk Nicol David said the expansion aims to make sport-based well-being part of everyday life. “When children move, they build not just stronger bodies but stronger minds,” she said.
The initiative was highlighted at the Sports & Mental Health Summit 2025 held at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, which brought together leaders from sport, education, business, and government to champion movement for mental health.
