The Youth and Sports Ministry says it will obtain a detailed report before commenting on issues affecting the Football Association of Malaysia.
THE Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will obtain a detailed report before issuing any statement or taking a position on issues affecting the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said KBS would also not interfere in any process outside its jurisdiction.
“We need to understand that the separation of powers is very important,” he told reporters after presenting financial aid to flood victims here today.
He said this when asked to comment on reports alleging the FAM Executive Committee would resign en masse as early as next week.
Mohammed Taufiq said KBS continuously monitors issues within all sports associations, not only FAM.
The ministry will take appropriate action under its purview after reviewing the necessary reports and decisions.
He added that KBS would ensure the development of football, the most popular sport among Malaysians, continues uninterrupted.
“We will ensure that the development of football cannot be halted or disrupted, and Insya-Allah, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will always scrutinise any issue that arises.”
However, he acknowledged the ministry has certain limits and will not cross those boundaries.
KBS is always ready to assist any sports association in any aspect within its jurisdiction, he said.
