Arkham Knight’s plaguing issues

THE recent launch of Batman: Arkham Knight on the video game console Nintendo Switch has gone exactly as most have predicted it would go.

After being released on Dec 1 as part of the Arkham Trilogy collection for Switch players, Arkham Knight’s performance has come under intense scrutiny and ridicule.

Several months ago, the game was delayed to give players “the best possible experience on the video game console”.

With videos popping up online showing the choppy, inconsistent performance of the game on the Switch, the statement has proven to have aged like milk because the same issues that existed when the game originally launched eight years ago seem to have been imported to the console.

The game visually looks great despite the hardware limitations on the Switch and performance seemingly runs smoothly when players are controlling Batman on foot, whether running around, beating criminals into a bloody pulp or gliding in the air, but the moment they get into the Batmobile, the game becomes a nightmare.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by GameRiotArmy, driving the Batmobile causes the game to stutter, bringing the frame rate from 30fps to the low 20s, which is a fraction of what the game suffered during its 2015 launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

For now, we would advise against buying Arkham Knight on the Nintendo Switch until patches and updates are rolled out to fix or alleviate its current performance issues.

That is, unless you unironically want to play the entire game with Batman jogging from one location to the next.
