BOGOTA (Colombia): The United Kingdom’s Honorary Consul in Guayaquil, Colin Armstrong, was abducted Saturday by armed men on his farm in Ecuador, according to authorities.
Armstrong was forcibly detained in the Los Rios province in southwest Ecuador, Anadolu Agency quoted officials.
Police said it suspected that Armstrong was kidnapped by gangs linked to drug trafficking.
The UK and Ecuador’s foreign ministries have not issued a statement regarding the abduction.
Police have launched an operation to locate Armstrong.–Bernama-AA
