Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso confirms Kylian Mbappe is fit and will travel to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.
JEDDAH: Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso confirmed on Thursday that star striker Kylian Mbappe is fit to play in the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.
Mbappe had been left out of the squad travelling to Saudi Arabia after suffering a knee sprain.
“(Mbappe) is a lot better, he is feeling good, and he has the same chance of playing as his team-mates,” Alonso told reporters.
The coach added that the 27-year-old forward would fly to join the squad on Friday.
Mbappe is Madrid’s top scorer this season with 29 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.
Real Madrid set up the ‘Clasico’ final by beating city rivals Atletico Madrid 2-1 in their semi-final on Thursday.
Holders Barcelona had earlier thrashed Athletic Bilbao 5-0 in the first semi-final on Wednesday.
