600 students in Bandar Tun Razak receive RM150 school aid vouchers from MP Wan Azizah, easing parental financial burdens for the new school term.
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 600 primary and secondary school students in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency have received school vouchers worth RM150 each.
The assistance, with a total allocation of RM90,000, was presented by Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at a back-to-school aid event.
Dr Wan Azizah said the programme, implemented by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), helps ease the financial burden on parents.
“With the cash vouchers, parents are able to purchase items according to their children’s needs,” she said at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex.
She added the aid can reduce financial pressure during critical periods, especially for parents with multiple school-going children.
Dr Wan Azizah noted such targeted assistance is crucial amid the challenging cost of living in urban areas.
The vouchers can be used to purchase school supplies at Pasaraya Hari-Hari.
Recipients are students from six zones including Desa Tasik, Sungai Besi, and Bandar Sri Permaisuri.
One recipient, nine-year-old Nur Daniesya Aafiyah Wazir, said she was grateful for the assistance for clothing and stationery.
Another, 15-year-old Ziyan Hafiy Rizqi, said the aid helped ease her parents’ burden in providing school supplies.
Also present were the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and AIM managing director Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz.
