Motorcyclist knocks down student crossing road in Kajang

A 16-year-old student suffered minor injuries after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a road near KPMC in Kajang

PETALING JAYA: A 16-year-old school student sustained minor injuries after being involved in a road accident with a motorcycle along Jalan Cheras, in front of Kajang Plaza Medical Centre (KPMC), yesterday.

Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident occurred at about 4.40pm and involved a motorcycle ridden by a 33-year-old local man and a pedestrian, Kosmo reported.

According to preliminary investigations, the motorcyclist, who works in the private sector, is believed to have struck the student after the teenager suddenly crossed into the motorcycle’s path.

“As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered minor injuries to the right hand and right leg, while the motorcyclist was unharmed,” he said in a statement last night.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Those with information related to the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Nur Faezah Mohd Zakria, at 012-326 8496.

Police have also advised all road users to practise courteous driving, obey traffic regulations and remain vigilant at all times while on the road.
