PUTRAJAYA: The government will hold a special event during this year’s National Month to honour the contributions of the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet discussed the 50th anniversary of the second Prime Minister’s passing.
“The Prime Minister has requested the National Unity Ministry to prepare a special event to commemorate the services of the late Tun Abdul Razak,” said Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson.
He stated the event would be held throughout National Month leading up to National Day.
Fahmi noted it is an important date to remember a statesman, continuing an annual tradition during the National Month period.
Tun Abdul Razak, known as the Father of Development, served as Prime Minister from September 1970.
He passed away in London on Jan 14, 1976, at the age of 54 after battling leukaemia.
